Check Out NZ’s Best Tree Climbers In Action!

Nelson Tree Specialists is proud to announce we are a Supporting Sponsor of the 2015 NZ ARB Conference, which is set to be held at the Rutherford Hotel in Nelson from October 1-3.

The NZ ARB Conference is offering two free events for those who want to participate in the event without having to pay full registration.

Tree Climbing Championship

Come watch the nation’s best arborists compete for the National Tree Climbing Championship title. This is a competition like you have never seen before!

WHEN: Friday, October 2 at 4:30 PM and Saturday, October 3 at 9 AM

WHERE: Church Hill, near the top of Trafalgar Street

COMPETITIONS:

· Footlocking – specific climbing technique

· The work climb – this event simulates a working arborist

· Throwline competition – how an arborist gains access into the tree

· Aerial rescue competition – the technique to rescue another out of a tree

 

Free Lecture Series by Philip Simpson

Philip Simpson, author of Pohutukawa and Rata: New Zealand’s Iron-hearted Trees, will present the ‘Tāne Mahuta’ Public Lecture Series: Native Treelands in New Zealand’s Landscape. Tāne Mahuta means ‘Lord of the Forest’ and is the largest living kauri tree in New Zealand.

WHEN: Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 PM
